On Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., Cathedral Square Senior Living (CSSL), an assisted and independent living residence owned by Cathedral Square Corporation, in Burlington, Vermont, will be holding a vintage fashion show and a display of 1940’s era memorabilia. Marilyn Richardson, Activities Coordinator with Cathedral Square Corporation has been working with assisted living residents during the month of August on celebrating the 1940’s. Marilyn says, “I’ve been so touched by the memories that residents have shared with me throughout the month about the war, the Great Depression, their wedding memories and patriotism. It’s been such a beautiful experience. It is the fabric of their life, and it has also helped to validate their lives in a very touching and heart-felt way”.
The event will include a 1940’s fashion show coordinated by Lorettee Sousie, period clothing, resident stories and a display of hats, quilts and other memorabilia. Some of the clothing items to be included in the fashion show are on loan from the Clothing Line in Burlington. A vintage bike was also loaned to CSSL from the Old Spokes Home located on North Winooski Avenue in Burlington. On August 23, 2007 at 6:00 p.m., CSSL will be hosting a dinner dance featuring a jazz group of young musicians and a 1940’s style dinner.
