05/05/2006 - Whitcomb Woods Welcomes Essex Middle School Students Spring Clean Up Effort

ESSEX JUNCTION - Beginning Friday, May 5, Whitcomb Woods will be a flurry of spring yard clean up thanks to some help from Essex Middle School students.

Eight sixth grade students from Essex Middle School have selected Whitcomb Woods for a community service project for the month of May. “The residents are delighted to have the volunteers raking around their decks, setting flowers and providing a spruce up of the grounds. We’re hopeful this experience will provide opportunities for the students to spend time with the residents in the future,” says Whitcomb Woods Property Manager Linda Chiasson. The students will spend about two hours each Friday at the community.

Whitcomb Woods is a 65 unit affordable housing community for seniors and people with disabilities managed by Cathedral Square Corporation (CSC). Located on West Street in Essex Junction, Whitcomb Woods is nestled in a community of single family residences with the grounds surrounded by wooded areas and the Winooski River.

CSC is a non-profit, state wide developer of affordable housing, a property manager specializing in resident service coordination, a licensed long term care provider, and a technical assistance resource. CSC was created in 1977 by the Cathedral Church of St. Paul. CSC is proud to be an American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) Quality First participant and an equal opportunity employer and housing provider.
